about
Rom-Com was the first song from our month long session at my loft in downtown LA— The concrete floor and high ceilings created a sort of cavernous sound. Sean would loop guitar and synths while I played drums and introduced additional synthetic textures: It was important for us to play everything without edits, limiting ourselves to only a few select elements. We are obsessed with records like Second Edition [Public Image Ltd.] and The Pleasure Principle [Gary Numan]; records where spirit and improvisation guide expression. We wanted to create a ‘wall-of-sound’ between the two of us. The lyrics are from the perspective of trying to find your existential footing in the cyclical information spiral. My wife Carlson wrote a poem while listening to the instrumental for the first time that became the words to the chorus.
lyrics
Rom-Com
You think that you’re falling I think that you’re stalling
I do
I don’t want to take your heart away Countless satellites do that everyday But I try not to let that make me cry
I try to look on the brighter side
I don’t want to be the only way
You’re able to see in the light of day
We can find some kind of compromise Something to drink and clear your mind
You want to undo It’s morning
You’re wasting away Adore it
It’s true
I don’t want to take your heart away Countless satellites do that everyday But I try not to let that make me cry
I try to look on the brighter side
I don’t want to be the only way
You’re able to see in the light of day
We can find some kind of compromise Something to drink and clear your mind
I don’t want to take your heart away I don’t want to take your heart away I don’t want to take your heart away I don’t want to take your heart
